Payment options

Payment and exchange of the goods does not take place through Flog It and must be arranged between the buyer and the seller.

Once you have made contact with the seller and reviewed their feedback, there are several payment options available. Most sellers will state their accepted payment methods on the auction. It is standard practice for the seller to ask for payment before they send the goods.

Payment options include:

Payment method

Information
Pay on pick-up This is the safest means of payment and recommended for higher value local purchases. It also provides you with the opportunity to inspect the goods to ensure they are as described.

Note that some sellers will not allow you to pick goods up that are of a lower value due to the inconvenience this can cause them.
Bank payment Recommended for lower value transactions. Deposit the payment directly into the seller's bank account through internet banking, phone banking or at your local branch.

This is the most common form of payment; it's fast, cheap and with the seller's bank account number, you have another means of tracking the seller down in the rare event that the seller is fraudulent.

Risks - Payment cannot be reversed if a problem arises and is undertaken at your own risk.
Credit Card Recommended for purchases from sellers who support it. Some larger sellers may offer payment via credit card.

Credit card payment is immediate, convenient and traceable.

Credit card issuers usually offer some protection to online buyers - allowing them to reverse transactions in the event of fraud.

Some sellers may only accept credit card payment when the credit card is presented in person.
Cheque Recommended if agreeable to the seller. You send the seller a personal or bank cheque to pay for the item.

Most banks will allow you to cancel a cheque before it is cashed if a problem arises.

Sending a cheque can be time consuming due to postal and clearance times. The seller will usually wait for cheques to clear before sending the goods, resulting in delays.

Some banks charge you to write or present cheques.
Cash We do not recommend cash payment.

Cash is untraceable and offers no way to cancel your payment.

You have no recourse if the item is not delivered.
